From The Author's Desk:

Hello, Rabbi Shafier here, better known as the man behind The Shmuz.

In my capacity as a lecturer and public figure, I've seen, heard, and been privy to many problems that people face in their private lives. Twenty years ago, my late Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Henoch Leibowitz, ZT"L of Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva directed me to launch a Torah and Mussar program for young working men. The Shmuz took off beyond my wildest expectations and many participants began turning to me for life advice.

Armed with decades of wisdom that I'd received from great Torah minds and plenty of siyata d'shamaya, I was able to help and guide people to live better, happier, more fulfilling lives.

Until the questions turned to marital problems.

Despite everything I thought I knew about people and the eternal Torah truths, there was something wrong with so many marriages that should (theoretically) have been blissful. Wonderful, thoughtful, smart people who began charming lives together turned into bitter adversaries who could not get along, no matter what was suggested or tried.

Something was very wrong and I was determined to find out what that was. More importantly, I had to know what could be done to change it.

I scoured the world of marital advice - Jewish, secular, and professional - and I guided struggling couples through their counseling journey, where slowly things began to click. First one part of the puzzle, then one more piece, and soon another, until eventually, patterns emerged. Patterns that held true for all couples, regardless of their backgrounds or personality traits.

This book is the culmination of my years-long journey to understanding why marriages fail, and how they can be fixed. The process is one of realization and implementation. Once couples begin to accept each other's inherent similarities and differences, the walls between them begin to crumble, and a beautiful home is suddenly within very real reach!

The Ten Really Dumb Mistakes That Very Smart Couples Make will open eyes and hearts, before transforming lives and unions. It will coach you on the practical techniques needed to bring a new level of intimacy and love into your marriage - without the need for expensive, and often ineffective, marriage therapy.

Every couple will find in this book ideas and realizations that apply to their struggles with shocking accuracy. Because even the smartest couples are prone to these ten dumb mistakes.

Join me on the joyous journey towards marital bliss.
